How to perfect your Winter Skincare routine

As the country transforms into the set of Gilmore Girls, the whole nation completely forgets that summer even happened and, let’s face it, the countdown to Christmas begins. I’m not going to lie – I am a sucker for Autumn. My shopping addiction has tripled in the past few weeks as I just cannot stop buying knitwear and ankle boots. I even broke the ultimate ‘basic b*tch’ cliché yesterday and purchased an Autumn Leaves Yankee candle… As the air chills, it has become apparent that my current skincare routine just isn’t going to cut the mustard any longer. Although I have an oily skin type, I feel like my skin has been crying out for moisture these past few weeks. I have slowly started to up my game and whacked out the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream – an absolute classic for the winter months. I particularly love it as a lip balm and I’ve been applying it every night to keep cracked lips at bay (because, eww). So, when Victoria Leeds invited me to their …

Recent Skincare Loves

When you find a skincare routine that actually works… Skincare is like a game of minesweeper for me. A few weeks of haphazard cleansing with an exciting new product and my skin can explode into a red, irritable mess. It’s a small miracle when I actually find a routine of products that genuinely improve the clarity of my skin. At the moment, I feel like I’m winning the battle. On a scale of one to ten, ten being the expert level of Caroline Hirons, I’d say I feel about a seven for creating this magical beauty concoction (woah). So, time for the DL. I take my makeup off with the Emma Hardy Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm. Pricey but a tiny bit goes a long way. Also feels like you’re giving your face a mini massage every evening which will in turn prevent wrinkles (score). Just an overall luxurious product that doesn’t break me out. Amen to that. I usually follow with a light cleanse using a gel based product, such as Kiehl’s Calendula Foaming …

Show Dry : Harvey Nichols Leeds

‘Gorgeous hair is the best revenge’ – Ivana Trump Have you ever tried blowdrying your hair in a rush before? Yep, me neither. That’s because it just simply isn’t an option. The heavy barrel brush, the difficult angles, the time it takes. I can be at work sat at my desk with a cuppa much quicker by sticking to my usual routine of dangling my hair upside down and swirling my hairdryer around my head for a few minutes. However when my hair reaches pancake levels of flatness by lunchtime let’s just say I’m not having the best hair day of my life. The thing about my hair is I have quite a lot of it but it’s very fine and poker straight so achieving a bit of texture and volume is a big deal for me! Gone are the days of back combing and gallons of Elnette – the future is Kate Middleton hair. Glossy and naturally bouncy, K Mids has revolutionised the Blow Dry and with help from Show Dry it’s a possibility …

Spring Beauty Fix Blogger Event: Victoria Quarter, Leeds

On Thursday night I was lucky enough to attend a taster event for the Victoria Quarter’s Spring Beauty Fix, happening on 25th and 26th April. Myself and the rest of the bloggers enjoyed an evening of beauty bliss from skin-matching tests at Kiehl’s to a make-up session at Illamasqua. Charlotte Tilbury was a personal highlight; their counter in Harvey Nichols is adorned with glamorous spotlights and beautifully displayed products that are truly irresistible and look so sophisticated. I am dying to try out Charlotte’s Magic Cream and I have my eyes on a Colour Chameleon Eye Pencil in Dark Pearl (bring on Payday). Food followed in the form of Afternoon tea at Harvey Nichols’ Espresso Bar; the perfect pitstop to socialise some more and eat yummy sweet and savoury treats topped off with a scone of course! I found out that the Espresso Bar host a film night most Fridays where you are treated to a fashion-related film in the elaborate surroundings of the VQ plus a three course meal all for £30! A bargain when …

#2 BODYCARE FAVOURITES

1. EcoTan Classic Self Tan Spray 500ml, £28, ecotan.net; 2. Satsuma Body Butter, £12, Body Shop; 3. Garnier Intensive 7 days daily Body Lotion, £3.33, Boots; 4. St Ives Invigorating All Over Body Scrub, £5.49, Boots 1. I came across this product in TK Maxx and like every product I buy in there, it was a definite gamble, but it paid off! The pump spray definitely makes this product easy to apply and the fact it’s a liquid means it dries so quickly – no wafting your body around your room with the window open with this tanning solution. It does have that ‘fake tan’ smell the day after applying, however it’s not over bearing and actually very mild compared to some other tanning products I have used. I was impressed with the organic formula this product has – it includes vitamins A and E which help skin vitality and renewal, a nice bonus. The results after applying are pretty much instantaneous and give a very natural tan which is buildable with extra application. I know …

#1 SKINCARE FAVOURITES

1. Bioderma Sensibio H2o, £4.50 – £9.99, escentual.com; 2. Tea Tree Face Mask, £10, Body Shop; 3. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, £11.05, escentual.com; 4. Garnier Exfo-Brusher Wash, £5.33, Boots. 1. I heard about this magical solution, Bioderma, from a few beauty bloggers and couldn’t resist a try. I am on my fourth bottle now and I never want to take it out of my skincare routine! It works as a makeup remover/cleanser and has definitely helped soothe and balance out the oil levels in my skin. It makes your face feel refreshed and super clean and, most importantly, hydrated. It’s like beauty-lovers’ holy water in a plastic bottle. Oh, and it’s a French skincare product so you have to buy online, however I have heard it should be in our stores sometime in the near future. I always buy mine from escentual.com, they’re cheap and have been very reliable so far. 2. I have to say, I stole this off my sister a while ago, but I was having a major breakout crisis and needed …
